Okay, imagine you are playing with your toys and you want to make them better. That's what the Hundred Days' Reform was all about - making China's laws and government better.
A long time ago, the emperor of China wanted to improve his country so he gave his helper, a man named Guangxu, 100 days to come up with ideas to make things better. Guangxu was very excited because this was his chance to help China be even stronger and happier.
During those 100 days, Guangxu and his friends came up with lots of new laws and ways of running the government. They wanted to make schools better, make the army stronger, and improve the way people were treated. It was like they were trying to give China a big toy upgrade!
However, not everyone was happy about these changes. Some people thought the changes were too sudden and too scary. Those people were afraid they would lose their power or their jobs.
Eventually, a group of people who didn't like the Hundred Days' Reform made Guangxu and the emperor stop with all the changes. They were very angry and even put Guangxu in prison!
So, while the Hundred Days' Reform brought some new and exciting things for China, in the end there were still some grown-ups who didn't want to change their ways. It's like when you want to try a new game with your friends, but they don't want to play something different.
