During World War II, Hungary was an Axis Power. This means that it was fighting on the same side as Germany, Italy, and Japan. Hungary supported Germany by sending troops to help it fight against the Allied Powers, which were countries like Britain, France, and the United States. The Hungarian government also allowed Nazi troops to cross their borders so they could invade other countries in Europe. This made them an important part of Hitler's plan to take over Europe. Unfortunately, this meant that when the war ended, Hungary was punished for its involvement and had to give up some of its land to other countries.
