Hydraulic engineering

Hydraulic engineering is a type of engineering that deals with using water to do work. It involves using pumps, dams and reservoirs to move water around and control its flow. For example, if a town is built near a river, the hydraulic engineer will figure out how to build dams and reservoirs to store the right amount of water, and then use pipes to get water to homes and businesses when they need it. Hydraulic engineers also make sure that bridges and roads don't get flooded when it rains too much. In addition, they help protect coastlines from storms and help protect cities from floods.
