Hydraulic machinery is like a big straw. You know how when you suck on a straw, it can lift up the liquid in your cup and into your mouth? Hydraulic machinery does the same thing, but with bigger straws and different liquids.
In hydraulic machinery, we use special liquids like oil or water that can't just be sucked up like a straw touching a liquid. We need special pumps to push the liquid into the straws, or tubes, and these tubes are called hydraulic lines.
The liquid goes into a big container called the hydraulic reservoir. From there, the pump pushes the liquid through the hydraulic lines, and into another container, like a piston.
When the liquid reaches the piston, it fills up the container and pushes against it. This makes the piston move, and in turn, it can move other parts of the machine like a crane or a bulldozer.
So, hydraulic machinery is a way to use liquid power to move big things. And it's important because with hydraulic machinery we can move things that would be too hard for us to move by ourselves, like giant boulders or even big buildings!
