Hydrogen embrittlement

Hydrogen embrittlement is when hydrogen gas gets into something that is made of metal, like a bolt. The gas molecules are very small and can get inside the tiny spaces between the metal atoms. When this happens, the metal gets weaker and can break easily, like if too much pressure is put on it.
