Hydrogen damage

Hydrogen damage is when hydrogen atoms move into a material and cause it to become weak or brittle. It can happen in metals, and it is caused by water vapour or hydrogen gas in the air. When the hydrogen atoms move into the material they form small bubbles, which can weaken it or make it break or crack. This can be dangerous if it happens to things like bridges or airplanes, which could become weak and break.
