ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hypnotic susceptibility

Hypnotic susceptibility is how easily someone can be hypnotized, or how likely it is that a person can enter a specific type of trance-like state when given instructions by a hypnotist. It is like a person's ability to be put in a relaxed state that makes it easier for the hypnotist to suggest ideas or new ways of thinking. Everyone is capable of entering a trance-like state and being hypnotized but some people are just more susceptible to it than others. If a person is very susceptible to hypnosis, it can be very easy for the hypnotist to get them into a deep trance-like state.
