Hypostasis (philosophy and religion)

Hypostasis is a philosophical and religious concept that refers to the idea that certain things exist as a part of something else. This is often used to describe the relationship between a greater being (such as God) and lesser beings (such as humans). For example, people are a part of God, but can still have their own individual identities. In this way, God is the source of everything, but we can still be distinguished as unique people.
