ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ICAO

ICAO is like a special club for airplanes and pilots all over the world. It helps make sure that everyone who flies an airplane is doing it safely and following the same rules no matter where they're from.

ICAO stands for "International Civil Aviation Organization," which means it's a group that helps with the "civil", or non-military, part of flying. Kind of like a playground monitor who makes sure everyone is playing by the rules.

They have special meetings where people from different countries come together to discuss how flying can be made better and safer for everyone. They also make special rules about things like how airplanes should be built and how pilots should be trained, so that everyone can understand and follow the same rules no matter where they're from.

When you see planes flying in the sky, you can know that the ICAO helped make sure everyone on that plane has been trained to fly safely and follow the rules. So, in a way, it's like a big group hug for all the airplanes and pilots in the world, to keep us all safe and happy.
