ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ICOMOS

ICOMOS is like a club for people who really, really care about old buildings, historic sites, and things that are a part of our cultural heritage. These people are called "heritage professionals" and they work together to make sure that important buildings and sites are protected and preserved for future generations to enjoy.

Think of it like a bunch of grown-ups who really like playing with LEGOs. Except the LEGOs they're playing with are really old and fragile, and if they break them, they can't just go buy a new set at the store.

ICOMOS helps these heritage professionals share information and work together to do things like document and study important buildings, make recommendations to governments and organizations about how to protect them, and even organize fun events and conferences where they can talk about their passion for old places.

They do all this because they believe that our history and culture are important, and that old buildings and sites are like time machines that help us understand what life was like in the past. So they want to make sure that these buildings and sites are around for a long, long time for us and for future generations to learn from and enjoy.
