ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31 Automatic identification and data capture techniques

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes you see barcodes or QR codes on things like your juice box or a toy at the store? That's an example of something called "automatic identification and data capture" (or AIDC for short) - it's all about using technology to help us quickly and easily figure out what things are and keep track of them.

Now, the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31 is a group of very smart people from all around the world who work together to make rules and standards for AIDC technology. They talk about things like how to design barcodes so that they can be read easily, or how to keep track of things like medicine in a hospital using special chips that can be scanned.

Basically, they help make sure that all the different kinds of AIDC technology work well together and can be used by lots of different people in lots of different places. It's pretty important stuff!
