ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ice hockey

Ice hockey is a game that is played on ice. You wear special shoes called skates that allow you to glide on the ice. The game is played with a stick and a puck, which is a small, flat disc made of hard rubber.

There are two teams, and each team has six players on the ice at a time. The goal of the game is to score more goals than the other team. You score a goal by shooting the puck into the other team's net.

The game is divided into three periods, each lasting 20 minutes. At the end of the game, the team with the most goals wins.

During the game, players are allowed to hit each other, but there are rules about how and where you can hit someone. The game can get pretty rough, but players wear special equipment to protect themselves, like helmets and pads.

There are also penalties for breaking the rules, like tripping another player or hitting someone in the face with your stick. If you get a penalty, you have to sit in the penalty box for a set amount of time and your team has to play with one less player on the ice.

Overall, ice hockey is a fast-paced, exciting game that requires skill and teamwork to win.
