Illusory correlation

Illusory correlation is when we think that two things might be related when they actually aren't. It's a bit like if you thought that someone was wearing the same shirt they always wore, but when you got closer you noticed it was a different shirt. You had thought they were wearing the same shirt, but they weren't. Illusory correlation is when we think this kind of thing happens more often than it actually does.
