ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Imperial election

Imagine you and your friends are all trying to decide who gets to be the new leader of your club. But instead of just voting for someone, you have to go through a really complicated process called an imperial election.

First, all the big and important people in your club (kind of like the adult advisors) get together and decide who are the best candidates for leader. They make a big list of all the people they think would be good choices.

Then, these chosen candidates have to travel to a big city where all the other big and important people from different clubs and places are gathered. This is called the imperial city.

Once they get there, the candidates have to stay in a special building where they can't talk to anyone or leave until the election is over. This is because they want to make sure that no one is cheating or trying to influence each other.

After a few days, all the big and important people gather together in a big room and read out loud each candidate's qualities and pros and cons. They debate and argue who would be the best leader.

Finally, they all get to vote on who should be the leader. But not just one vote, each person gets seven votes! They can give all of their votes to one person or spread them out among different candidates.

The person who gets the most votes becomes the new leader of the club! But, the catch is that they can only be the leader for a short period of time. Another imperial election has to happen in a few years to choose a new leader again.

So, an imperial election is a way of choosing a leader by following a complicated and careful process that involves lots of people and lots of voting.
