Impregnation resin

Okay kiddo, let's talk about impregnation resin! When we want to make a really hard and strong material, like a plastic piece, we can use a special liquid called impregnation resin.

Imagine you have a cupcake that is really squishy and soft. If you wanted to make it really hard and strong, you could dip it in a special liquid that will harden when it dries. That's basically what we do with impregnation resin, but instead of a cupcake, we dip a material, like wood, fiberglass or carbon fibers, in the liquid so it can make it hard and strong too.

But how does the resin work? Well, when we pour it on top of the material we want to make strong, the liquid goes inside all the little gaps and spaces in it. Have you ever played with clay or Play-Doh before? It's like when you press a ball of Play-Doh on top of other piece of Play-Doh, and it sticks together and fills all the little gaps. That's what impregnation resin does, it fills all the tiny holes in the material.

When the resin dries, it becomes a really tough and strong material. It makes the wood or fibers stronger, stiffer and more scratch-resistant. In other words, it makes them much harder to break!

So there you have it! Impregnation resin is like a magic liquid that makes things really hard and strong by filling all the gaps with a special material that hardens when it dries.
