Incandescent light bulb

Okay kiddo, you know what a light bulb is right? It's that thing that gives light when you turn on the switch. Now let's talk about incandescent light bulbs.

An incandescent light bulb is a type of light bulb that uses a thin wire called a filament. When you turn on the switch, electricity flows through the filament and heats it up. As the filament gets hot, it starts to glow and give off light. This is called incandescence.

But why does the filament get hot? It's because of something called resistance. When electricity flows, it meets resistance which makes it harder for it to pass through the filament. This resistance also creates heat which makes the filament hot and start to glow.

The filament is made of a special type of metal called tungsten. Tungsten can withstand high temperatures and doesn't burn out quickly, which makes it perfect for incandescent light bulbs.

But there's a problem with incandescent light bulbs, they are not very efficient. Do you know what that means? It means they waste a lot of energy and money. That's why we now use LED bulbs which are much more efficient.

Hope that explains it to you, kiddo!
