Inihaw

Inihaw is a Filipino word that means grilled food. When you grill food, you cook it on a hot surface like a barbecue or a grill until it's nicely browned and cooked all the way through. Think of it like cooking on a big pan made of metal wires that is placed over hot, glowing coals.

To make inihaw, you start by marinating your meat or other food in a special mixture of herbs and spices for a few hours or overnight. This gives the food a lot of great flavor. Then you put the food on sticks, skewers, or a grill basket, and place it over the hot coals.

You have to be careful when cooking inihaw because the heat can be very hot, and you don’t want to burn the food. It’s also important to keep turning the food over to make sure it cooks evenly. Once the food is done, you can serve it with some rice and dipping sauce, like soy sauce mixed with calamansi (a small, sour fruit like a lemon).

In the Philippines, inihaw is a very popular dish, especially during celebrations, parties, and family gatherings. People gather around the grill and wait for the food to cook, enjoying the smell of the smoke and the laughter of friends and family. It’s a fun and delicious way to enjoy food with the people you love.
