ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Inner conflict

Inner conflict is when the little voice inside your head tells you to do different things, and you're not sure which advice to follow. Just like when you're trying to decide between having ice cream or spinach for dessert, but your taste buds don't agree with your mind. You really want the ice cream, but you know that spinach is healthy, and your parents told you to eat your veggies. This can create a lot of confusion, and you might feel like you're stuck and don't know what to do.

Sometimes inner conflict can happen when you feel two different emotions at the same time. For example, you might feel happy that you got invited to a friend's party, but also anxious because you're not sure if you'll fit in. This can make you hesitate and doubt yourself, which can feel really uncomfortable.

No matter the reason, inner conflict is a common thing for everyone. The important thing is to listen to your intuition and think carefully about what you want to do. Sometimes it's helpful to talk to someone you trust, like a friend or family member, and get their opinion. And remember, it's okay to make mistakes and learn from them. The more you practice making decisions, the easier it will become.
