ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Institutional

When we talk about things being institutional, we mean that they have to do with big groups of people who work together in a certain way.

Think about school as an institution. Everyone who goes to school has to follow certain rules and do certain things, like attend classes and complete homework. The teachers all work together to make sure that the students learn and grow.

Institutions can also be things like hospitals, banks, or governments. They all have their own sets of rules and ways of doing things.

When we say someone is an institutional member, we mean that they work for one of those big groups and are part of making things happen. Maybe they're a doctor at a hospital, or an elected official in the government.

Basically, anything that involves a lot of people working together in a structured way can be considered institutional.
