Intermediate-mass black hole

Ok kiddo, so you know what a black hole is, right? It's like a giant space vacuum that sucks in everything, even light! Well, there are different types of black holes, and intermediate-mass black holes are one of them.

These black holes are not too big and not too small - they're like Goldilocks' porridge, just right! They are a bit bigger than the regular black holes that are made when big stars explode, but they're not as big as the supermassive black holes that are found at the center of galaxies.

Scientists still don't know a whole lot about intermediate-mass black holes because they're not as easy to find as the other types. They hide out in the middle of star clusters, which are groups of stars that are close together. When a bunch of stars are close enough, they can start to pull on each other and create a black hole in the middle.

Scientists have found a few of these intermediate-mass black holes in the Milky Way galaxy (that's where we live!), but they're still trying to figure out how they form and what they do. Some scientists think they might be the missing link between regular black holes and supermassive black holes.

Pretty cool, huh? Just remember - intermediate-mass black holes are not too big, not too small, they hide out in star clusters, and scientists are still trying to figure them out!
