Internment of Japanese Canadians

During World War II, a lot of people were afraid that Japanese people living in Canada might help Japan, which was fighting against Canada. Because of this fear, the Canadian government made a bad decision and forced Japanese Canadians to leave their homes and jobs and move to special camps. This was called "internment". Even families with children were forced to move. They lost their homes, businesses, possessions and their normal life. They were not allowed to return to their homes and it was a long time before they were allowed to go back to their normal life. The internment was unfair and wrong because the Japanese Canadians did nothing wrong and were loyal Canadians. Even though it happened a long time ago, we should learn from this mistake and treat all people with fairness and kindness.
