Ionising radiation protection

Okay kiddo, so you know that there are some rays that come from different things like the sun, some machines, and even the atoms that make up everything around us. These rays can be very powerful and can hurt our bodies if we are exposed to too much of them.

So, ionizing radiation is a type of ray that has the power to change atoms and molecules in our body, which can make us sick or even cause cancer.

That's why we need protection from ionizing radiation, just like we need to wear sunscreen to protect us from the sun's harmful rays.

Now, there are different ways to protect ourselves from ionizing radiation. One way is to limit our exposure, which means staying away from radiation sources, or spending less time near them. For example, if you're at the dentist, the dentist might put a lead apron over you to protect your body from the X-rays they use to take pictures of your teeth.

Another way to protect ourselves is by using shielding. Shielding means using thick and heavy materials like lead, concrete, or steel to create a barrier between us and the radiation. These materials absorb or block the radiation so that it doesn't reach our body.

So, to sum it up, ionizing radiation protection is all about making sure we don't get exposed to too much of these harmful rays, and using different methods like limiting exposure and shielding to keep our bodies safe.
