ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Islamic messianism

Islamic messianism is like when you are waiting for a big surprise that is going to come one day, kind of like a present. In Islam, some people believe that there is going to be a special person that will come one day to save the world, and they call this person the Mahdi.

The Mahdi is kind of like a superhero in Islam. They believe that he will come when the world is in a bad place, and he will fix everything and make it good again. Just like in superhero movies, people are waiting for him to come and save the day.

Some people also believe that when the Mahdi comes, Jesus will come with him too. Together, they will restore peace and justice to the world.

Waiting for the Mahdi is a big part of some Muslim people's faith. They believe that this is the way to make the world a better place, and they wait patiently for it to happen. It's like waiting for Christmas, but instead of presents, they hope for the Mahdi to come and bring peace to the world.
