When someone is "izbrisani" it means they have been erased or deleted from official records. This happened in Slovenia after the country gained independence in 1991 and the government decided to remove certain people from the official registry of residents. These people were mostly non-Slovenian, and had not obtained Slovenian citizenship before a certain deadline, even though they had been living in the country for years. As a result, they lost important rights such as access to healthcare, education, and employment, and many were forced to leave the country. This was a very sad and unfair situation that caused a lot of pain and hardship for those affected. Nowadays, efforts are being made to help these people regain their rights and recover from the damage caused by being "izbrisani".
