ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jaw reduction

Jaw reduction is a process in which the jawbone is made smaller to change the shape of someone's face.

You know your jaw? It's the bone right under your ears that helps you chew and talk. Sometimes, people want to make their face slimmer, so they make their jawbone smaller.

To do this, doctors or surgeons use a special tool to cut the jawbone, which then helps them reshape it. But don't worry, they do this while the person is asleep and won't feel anything.

After the surgery, a person might have to eat soft foods for a while and take medicine to help with pain.

But it's important to remember that everyone's face is different, and what might look good on one person might not look good on another. It's also important to make sure that the surgery is being done for the right reasons and that a person is happy with their appearance no matter what.
