ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jerzy Kluger

Jerzy Kluger was a man who was very important to Pope John Paul II. They were childhood friends and grew up together in Poland. When John Paul II became pope, he asked Jerzy to help him with lots of different things, like organizing important events, meetings, and trips. Jerzy was very good at his job, and he helped the pope a lot over the years.

But why was Jerzy so special to the pope? Well, it's because they were very close friends for many years. They had a special connection and cared a lot for each other. They both went through some tough times in their lives, like when Jerzy's family was sent to a concentration camp during World War II. But they always stayed close and helped each other whenever they could.

Sadly, Jerzy passed away in 2020 at the age of 93. But he will always be remembered as a loyal friend to the pope and a great help to the Catholic church.
