ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jikijitsu

Jiujitsu is a way of fighting that teaches you how to defend yourself without using weapons like swords or guns. Instead, you use your body to protect yourself and make the other person stop hurting you.

Imagine you and a friend are playing a game where you have to tag each other. When your friend tries to tag you, you can use your body to move out of the way or put your arm up to block them. This is kind of like what jiujitsu teaches you to do, but instead of just playing a game, you're learning how to protect yourself in a real fight.

In jiujitsu, you learn different moves called techniques, like how to throw someone on the ground or how to lock their arm so they can't keep hitting you. These moves are designed to help you defend yourself and get away from the other person without hurting them too badly.

Jiujitsu also teaches you a lot about respect and discipline. You learn to be patient and calm, and to listen carefully to your instructors. Most importantly, you learn to never use what you've learned in jiujitsu to hurt someone who hasn't hurt you first.

So just like how you learn to tag your friend without hurting them when you play, you learn how to protect yourself without hurting anyone in jiujitsu. It takes a lot of practice and hard work, but it's worth it to be able to feel confident and safe in any situation.
