ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Joint Implementation

Okay kiddo, so imagine you and your sibling both have a toy that you really like to play with. Sometimes you both want to play with it at the same time, but other times only one of you wants it. When only one of you wants it, you can share the toy and take turns playing with it. This is kind of like something called joint implementation.

Joint implementation is when two or more countries work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (which is like pollution that harms the Earth). This is important because greenhouse gases contribute to climate change, which can make the Earth's weather patterns go crazy and make it harder for people to live comfortably.

So, when two or more countries work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, they can take turns doing things like planting trees or building wind farms to create energy that doesn't produce as much pollution. This way, they can both benefit from the reduction in greenhouse gases, even if one country might have more resources to do it than the other.

So, just like you and your sibling share your toy when only one of you wants it, countries can work together to reduce pollution and protect the Earth for everyone.
