Jump cut

Okay kiddo, have you ever watched a movie or a video where a character suddenly jumps from one place to another without you seeing them move? That's called a jump cut!

Imagine you're watching a video of someone talking to the camera but they have a lot of pauses or say "um" a lot. If the video editor wants to make the video shorter, they might cut out the parts where the person is pausing or saying "um" to make it smoother. But when they cut out those parts, it might look like the person suddenly jumped ahead in time without it making sense. That's a jump cut!

Jump cuts might feel weird or confusing because they move the story forward in strange ways. But they can also be artistic and interesting when done on purpose, like in some music videos or short films. So, jump cuts can be a neat tool for filmmakers and video editors to use!
