Kaffir (Historical usage in southern Africa)

So, a long time ago in a place called southern Africa, there were some people who used a word called "kaffir". They used it to describe other people who they thought were different from them. And not in a nice way. It was a mean word that made those other people feel bad, kind of like calling someone a mean name on the playground.

But we know now that it's not a good word to use because it hurts people, and we should always be kind to others, no matter how they look or where they come from. So we don't use that word anymore.
