Kangaroo care

Kangaroo care is when a mommy or daddy kangaroo puts their baby kangaroo in a special pouch that is right against their chest. This helps the baby kangaroo feel safe, warm and loved.

Doctors and scientists have learned that this is also a really good way for human mommies and daddies to take care of their tiny babies too! It's called kangaroo care because it's like the way kangaroos take care of their babies, but it's not just for kangaroos.

When a human mommy or daddy does kangaroo care, they hold their baby in a special way that's like a hug. The baby is just in a diaper or a little shirt, and their head is near the mommy or daddy's heart. This makes the baby feel calm and happy, and it can even help them to grow and get better from being sick or born too early.

Kangaroo care is good for both baby and mommy or daddy. It helps them to bond and feel close to each other. Moms who do kangaroo care can make more milk for their baby, and dads can feel more involved in taking care of their little one.

So, like kangaroos snuggling their babies in their pouch, human mommies and daddies can snuggle their babies close to help them feel safe and loved.
