Karelia (historical province of Finland)

Karelia is a place that used to be part of Finland a long time ago. It was a very big area with lots of forests, lakes, and rivers. People who lived there spoke a special language and had their own traditions and ways of doing things.

But then, a long time ago, Karelia became part of Russia because of something called a war. That means that the people who lived there had to start speaking a different language and following different rules. Even though they were still living in the same place and doing the same things they always did, they were now part of a different country.

Today, Karelia is still a special place with lots of beautiful nature and historical sites, but it's part of Russia rather than Finland.
