ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kassite language

The Kassite language is a way that people in ancient times used to speak and write to each other. It's like a secret code that only certain people could understand. The Kassite language was used a long, long time ago in a place called Mesopotamia, which is now part of modern-day Iraq.

Imagine if you were playing a game with your friends and you came up with a special language that only you could understand. Other people who heard you talking might think you were speaking nonsense, but you and your friends knew exactly what you were saying. That's kind of like what the Kassite language was like.

The Kassite language used symbols and pictures to represent words and ideas. It was written on clay tablets using a stylus, which is like a stick used for drawing. People could read the language by looking at the symbols and pictures and understanding what they meant.

Today, we don't really use the Kassite language anymore because it's been replaced by other languages like Arabic and English. But back in ancient times, it was very important for people to be able to communicate with each other using the Kassite language.
