Kellogg-Briand Pact

Ok kiddo, imagine you and your best friend fighting over a toy. Your mommy sees you two screaming and decides enough is enough. She makes both of you promise to never fight over toys again. That's basically what the Kellogg-Briand Pact is.

A long time ago, a lot of grown-up countries were fighting each other all the time. They called it a "World War" and it was very, very bad. Lots of people got hurt and lots of places got destroyed. So, some grown-ups got together and had an idea. They thought, "Hey, instead of fighting all the time, let's promise to never do it again!"

And that's what they did. They made a big promise, called the Kellogg-Briand Pact. All the countries who signed it promised to never use war to solve problems again. That sounds like a very good thing, right?

Now, here's where it gets a little tricky. Just because they made a promise doesn't mean they always kept it. In fact, not long after they signed the Kellogg-Briand Pact, another war broke out. It was even worse than the first one!

But, a lot of people still believe in the idea of the Kellogg-Briand Pact. They think it's important to always try and solve problems peacefully, without hurting anyone. So, it's a good thing to remember, even if it's not always easy to do.
