Kerma (physics)

Kerma is like a special way we measure how much radiation is in a certain place. This is important because too much radiation can be bad for us.

Think of radiation like magic invisible stuff coming out of some things like the sun or X-rays at the doctor. This stuff can be helpful, but also too much of it can hurt us.

Kerma helps us figure out how much of this magic stuff is in a certain spot by using a special tool called a dosimeter. It's like a fancy magic wand that can measure how much of the radiation is in that spot.

We use kerma to make sure places like hospitals or nuclear power plants are safe and not giving off too much of the magic stuff. By knowing how much kerma is in different places, we can keep people safe from too much radiation.
