A keyboard layout is a way of arranging the keys on a keyboard. It's like a map -- it tells you what to press when you want to type a letter, number, or symbol. For example, on the most common keyboard layout, called “QWERTY,” the letter “Q” is at the top left corner. The letter “Z” is listed second to last on the bottom row. That way, if you want to type a word, you don’t have to reach across the keyboard to find the right letter. It’s also easier to type faster with the right keys in the right order. Different kinds of keyboards might have slightly different layouts, but they all share the same idea.
