Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases

Okay kiddo, do you know what diseases are? They are things that can make us sick and are caused by different germs or bugs. Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a group of diseases that can make people very sick in parts of the world where there might not be good access to healthcare or clean water.

In 2006, a lot of different people from different countries came together in Kigali, which is a city in Rwanda, and they talked about NTDs. They decided to make something called the Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases, which is like a promise to work together to help people who have these diseases.

The people who made the Kigali Declaration promised to work hard to control and even eliminate some of these diseases. They also promised to give more attention and resources to help people who have these diseases. They know that it's really important to make sure people have access to healthcare and can get treatment for NTDs.

So the Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases is like a big plan to help people who have these diseases, and make sure they have the care they need to get better.
