The Kim Dynasty is the name given to the family that rules North Korea, which is a country in Asia. The family has been in power since 1948 and currently is headed by the third Kim family member to take the lead, Kim Jong Un. The other two were Kim Jong Il, who was Kim Jong Un's father, and Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Un's grandfather. The Kim family has a strong grip on the government and many laws are enforced to ensure the Kims stay in power. The Kims believe in a system of government that focuses on making sure the people have a shared sense of nationalism and obedience to the leader. All of the family members are seen as national heroes and the people of North Korea follow the Kims with great reverence.
