ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

King

A king is someone who is in charge of a whole bunch of people. Remember when you played pretend and you were the leader of your group of friends? That's kind of like what a king does, but on a much bigger scale.

A long time ago, people believed that kings were chosen by gods to be in charge. They were almost like superheroes! They wore fancy clothes and had big castles. People would bow down to them and call them "Your Majesty."

Kings would make important decisions about their kingdom, like where to build new houses, how to plant crops, and who to go to war with. Sometimes the decisions they made were really good, and everyone was happy. But other times, they made bad choices and people got angry with them.

Being a king is a big responsibility because he has to keep his people safe and happy. But it's also a big honor because the king is like the father of his country, looking after everybody and making sure everything is going well.
