Okay kiddo, let's talk about the Kingdom of Israel, sometimes called Samaria.
A long, long time ago, there were a group of people called the Israelites. They lived in a place called Canaan, which is now modern-day Israel and Palestine. The Israelites had a lot of different tribes, but eventually, they decided to come together and create a kingdom.
This kingdom was split into two parts - Israel in the north and Judah in the south. Today we're going to talk about the Kingdom of Israel, which covered places like Samaria and Galilee.
The Israelites were ruled by kings who were chosen by a prophet or a priest. The first king was a guy named Saul, but he wasn't very good at being a king. The second king was named David and he was much better. He was a great leader and even defeated a giant named Goliath!
David's son, Solomon, became king after him. Solomon was very wise and built a big temple in Jerusalem, but he also taxed the people a lot, so not everyone was happy with him.
After Solomon died, the kingdom of Israel split in two because his son was not a good king. The northern part, which became known as the Kingdom of Israel or Samaria, had a bunch of kings over the years. Some of them were good and some of them were bad, but eventually, the Assyrian Empire came and took over.
The Assyrians forced many of the Israelites to move away and brought new people to live in Samaria. These new people were from other places and they mixed with the remaining Israelites, creating a new group of people known as Samaritans.
So that's a brief summary of the Kingdom of Israel or Samaria, kiddo. It was a place where the Israelites lived and had their own kings, but eventually, it was taken over by the Assyrians and became a mixture of different people groups.
