A knowledge ecosystem is like a natural ecosystem, but instead of being made up of living things (birds, trees, insects, etc.), it is made up of knowledge. A knowledge ecosystem is made up of all the people and resources (data, research, etc.) that are used to create knowledge. Everyone in a knowledge ecosystem has a role to play and adds to it, like birds and bugs in a natural ecosystem. People in a knowledge ecosystem learn from each other, share information and ideas, and shape the knowledge that is created.
