ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Korean manual alphabet

Okay kiddo! Today we are going to learn about the Korean Manual Alphabet!

Do you know what an alphabet is? It's a set of letters we use to make words! Just like how your name is made up of letters.

Now, the Korean Manual Alphabet is a way of communicating with our hands! It's kind of like sign language, but instead of using signs for whole words, we use different handshapes to represent the letters of the Korean alphabet.

For example, let's learn how to sign the letter A. To do this, we make a fist with our thumb tucked in between our index finger and middle finger. This handshape is similar to the letter A written in English!

We can do this for all the letters of the Korean alphabet, from A to Z. And just like how you can use the English alphabet to spell out words, we can use the Korean Manual Alphabet to spell out words as well.

This can be especially useful for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as for when you need to communicate silently.

So, that's the Korean Manual Alphabet in a nutshell! It's a way of using our hands to represent the letters of the Korean alphabet, and it's a really cool way to communicate without speaking.
