ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Krashovani

Krashovani is a term used to describe a group of people who speak Croatian but identify as ethnic Serbs living in Croatia. This term means "spoiled" or "broken" in Serbian.

Let's imagine that you and your friend both like to play with Legos, but you like to build boats and your friend likes to build planes. Even though you both like Legos, you have different interests. Now, imagine that there is a kid who also likes Legos, but sometimes they like to build boats and sometimes they like to build planes. This kid might be called a krashovani because they're a bit different from you and your friend - they like both things, but they don't fit into just one group.

Similarly, people who identify as krashovani speak Croatian but feel like they identify more with Serbia than with Croatia. They might feel like they don't fit in perfectly with either group, so they use this term to describe themselves.
