Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act

The Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (also called the LMRDA) helps protect people who are in labor unions by making sure their union leaders follow certain rules. This law sets out what information union leaders must report to their members and the public about their activities and spending. It also sets out how union leaders must be elected to their positions. The law also protects union members by making it illegal for union leaders to try to keep members from exercising their rights. That means union leaders can't keep members from voting in union elections or using their own money to help the union.
