ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lamppost

A lamppost is a tall pole that usually has a light on top of it. It's like a street light that helps to provide light in the dark so people can see where they are going and what's around them.

The lamppost usually has a metal or wooden pole that goes up into the air and at the top it has a bulb that produces light. This bulb can be turned on and off, either by a switch or by a sensor that detects when it's dark outside and turns the light on automatically.

Lampposts are important because they help keep us safe at night by lighting up the areas where we walk or drive. They also help us find our way in the dark and make it easier to see potential hazards like steps, curbs, or obstacles.

So next time you see a lamppost, remember that it's there to help you stay safe and see in the dark!
