Light pollution is when there is too much light in the sky at night, which makes it hard for us to see the stars and other things in space. It's like when you try to look at something in a dark room, but someone turns on a really bright light so you can't see anything else. People make light pollution by using lots of bright lights that shine up into the sky. This can be from street lights, buildings, signs, and even car headlights. The problem with all of this extra light is that it makes it harder for everyone to see things at night, and it can even mess up the sleeping patterns of some animals. So, it's important to try and use only the amount of light you need at night, so that everyone can see the stars and we don't disturb our animal friends.
