Land change science

Land change science is the study of how the Earth's land surface changes over time. Imagine you have a big play dough ball, and you squish it, stretch it, or make a hole in it. That's like what happens to the Earth's land surface over time. Scientists use fancy tools to observe how the land surface changes, like satellites that take pictures from way up high, or sensors that measure the temperature, moisture, and other things in the soil. These tools help scientists understand why and how the land surface changes, like when we cut down trees or build roads, cities, or farms. Scientists use this information to figure out what impacts these changes have on things like the weather, wildlife, or people who live near them. So basically, land change science is all about understanding how humans and nature affect the land we live on.
