Land speed record for railed vehicles

Okay kiddo, do you remember watching trains go by really fast? Well, sometimes people try to make trains go even faster to see how fast they can go. This is called the land speed record for railed vehicles.

It's kind of like a race, but instead of a bunch of people running, it's a train trying to go as fast as it can. People build special tracks just for these trains to go really fast on. The track is super straight and smooth, like a giant ruler.

The train has to be really special too. It's not like the trains you see at the train station. It's super long and skinny, like a pencil, and has really powerful engines to make it go super fast. It's also made out of special materials that are really light and strong.

When the train is ready, a person called a driver gets inside and starts it up. They push the gas pedal, or throttle, really hard and the train starts to go faster and faster. The driver focuses really hard on keeping the train on the straight track.

There are people watching the train from the sidelines and they use special machines to measure how fast it's going. If the train goes faster than any other train before it, then it breaks the land speed record!

It's really exciting when a train breaks the land speed record, but it's also really dangerous. That's why only special people are allowed to do it, and they have to be super careful.
