Lath Art

Lath art is when an artist takes thin strips of wood called laths and arranges them in patterns or designs to make a picture. Think of laths as crayons and the artist is coloring with them but using wood instead of crayons. The laths can be different colors and arranged in different ways to make the picture look really cool. The artist will glue the laths onto a flat surface like a board or a canvas, and sometimes will use paint or other materials to make the picture even more interesting. It's like putting together a puzzle, but instead of using puzzle pieces, the artist is using wooden strips to create a cool design.
