Latvian–Soviet Peace Treaty

A really long time ago, Latvia was a country where many people lived. But then, some other people from a place called the Soviet Union wanted to take over Latvia and make it a part of their country. This is like when you and your friend both want to play with the same toy, but only one of you can have it.

So, the leaders of Latvia and the Soviet Union had a big meeting to talk about what would be fair. They agreed to sign a document called the Latvian-Soviet peace treaty. This treaty was like a promise between the two countries that they would stop fighting and start being friends.

The treaty had a lot of different things in it, like how the two countries would work together and how they would treat each other's people. It also said that Latvia had to give some of its land to the Soviet Union, because the Soviet Union wanted it for their country.

Some people in Latvia were not very happy with this treaty, because they wanted to keep all their land and not be a part of the Soviet Union. But the leaders of Latvia decided that it was better to sign the treaty and be friends with the Soviet Union, instead of fighting with them and maybe getting hurt.

And that's how the Latvian-Soviet peace treaty was made!
